THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION HAS STARTED

Digital Warehouse, Online Reports, Secret Shopping, Higher Rates, total DRM control are all in the core of MMG's activity in the New Media. Read all about it.

MMG in cooperation with Eurofun would introduce a digital warehouse to store all the content that contains any of its copyrights. All the players in that market who would want to use the content will have to pull the content from this warehouse. This warehouse will be available to the owners of midi files, ring tones, audio and video owners (labels) and will supply us with online reports on each transaction that will be done with our copyright. No license will be granted to any operator, aggregator or label that would not use  the warehouse.

After opting our digital rights from the local society Acum early this year we have been looking for the best partners in our market place to insure total control on the works of our writers. After a very long process we have established the following system.

An auditing and tracking system that would provide us with daily statistics on what was pulled from the digital warehouse and for what price. The system will also generate a "Secret Shopper" module that would allow us to see that any content that is purchased is being pulled from our digital warehouse. Any player that would try to "fool" the system would be denied access to the digital warehouse and would have to provide us with explanations for the discrepancies.

The digital warehouse and the collection of the royalties will be done via Eurofun, an Israeli based company that is a leading publisher and distributor of mobile content in Israel & EMEA . This company is owned by MAPAL Communications which is held by public companies and serves as the mobile content distributor for Disney, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Mirage and CAPCOM  to name but a few.

The monitoring system is provided by All About Rights (AAR) who developed this system that would be used to monitor the traffic of our content. AAR also provides other solutions to content owners such as the Content Tracking System that allows content owners to find out who sells their content across the internet and at what fee.

HEAR IT AND GET IT

Finger printing based impulse purchase of mobile content service was launched in Israel. The service has shorten the 7-8 clicks process to 1-2 clicks. Its working its simple: it makes us more money.

Hingi (Hear It And Get It) is an Israeli company that has developed a technology-based, patent pending associative search engine, enabling a new buying experience, and driving consumers to spontaneous downloading: while listening to your favorite song on the radio or TV, sending an SMS with the channel number you’re currently listening to will cause our server to send you back the ringtone, song, video clip or any other related product.

The service was launched in December 2006 by two of Israel's leading cellular operators, and has created a lot of traffic both on song recognition and downloads.

The company's database contains over 750K fingerprints of works from all over the world and allows you to know within 2 seconds what song is being played in every radio station and music channel in Israel.  MMG will offer its clients a monthly tracking service of selected works with real up-to-date air play information.

The firm’s founders and management were executives of successful start-ups and industry leaders.

OUR MUSIC AT MIDEM

Remake of an Iraqi hit by Dudu Tassa, an Israeli megastar and the grandson of the king of music of Iraq and a remix of a Yamani Jewish prayer by Bonna Music are all part of our candy box and are all available for licensing. Have a look, have a listen, get in line!

"Wein Wein Ya Albi" Cry, Cry my Heart is a song that was written in the 40s by Zalah and Daud El Kuwaiti. These two Jewish brothers wrote songs for the leading Arab performers Um Kolthom, Abd El Wahab, Salima Murad and Sultana Yussuf, and were the founders of the Iraqi National Radio Orchestra and Iraq's King's Fissal's favorite musicians. In the 50's, the two brothers immigrated to Israel, and their names were stricken from their works and were registered as "Public Domain" throughout the Arab world.

Sixty years after the song was written and celebrated as a huge hit in Iraq, the grandson of Daud, and his name sake Dudu, is rerecording this beautiful love song. "My hope is to release it in Iraq, the birth place of my grandfather and the source of his inspiration", says Dudu Tassa, "my grandfather was a singer that performed all over the Arab world, and my wish is to follow his footsteps and bring our neighbors a simple message of music and love. We need to put the past behind us and create a better world to all of us for the sake of our future and respect to the times that our cultures have blended".

"Im Nin'alu" is a famous Yamani Jewish prayer that was used in the famous Ofra Haza and Maddona tracks. The new interpretation of Bonna Music is based on old recordings of a Yamani Kantor, which were made in the 50's, when the Jews from Yemen were flown to Israel in Operation "Magic Carpet". This recoding was found in the audio archives of the "Diaspora Museum" in Tel Aviv, and contains authentic live percussion.

Bonna Music (Doron Plascow, Ziv Matushka and Ronnie Noy) is a production team based in Tel Aviv. This successful production team has released several successful hits in Israel (Mash ups with Depeche Mode and the Cure). The team has used samples of the recordings to create an updated version to these catchy tunes. "The idea was to use the authenticity of the old Yamani Kantor and his band of percussionists, and mix it up with modern beats that could create a genuine World Music that would fit the "now".

"Wein Wein YA Albi" and "Im Nin'alu" have both been produced by Bonna Music.

ASTRIX'S NEW ALBUM

The master of Trance is releasing a new album this March.  The album "Red Means Distortion", released on "HOMmega Productions ", contains 12 new tracks and is available for licensing thoughout the world. A sample track from Astrix is found below.

Israeli Astrix, aka Avi Shmailov, is without a doubt one of the fastest rising stars on the Psy Trance scene, UK and world wide DJs. Producers and media are singing his praises not only on the underground trance scene, but also with the more adventurous hard dance and trance DJs, and it is due to his highly infectious sound. His debut album ‘Eye To Eye’ (HOMmega / 2002) marked his arrival on the trance scene and saw Astrix embark on what has since been a non-stop global tour performing at massive parties and international festivals alike, always raising the roof with his unique sound and style. Astrix has made remixes for and has been remixed by the likes of Infected Mushroom and GMS.  At the end of 2004, Astrix released his second album 'Artcore' (HOMmega) which sold over 20,000 copies up to date.  Astrix has compiled a bestseller mix CD - 'Psychedelic Academy' - for a leading UK label (Hit Mania), where, like in his own music, he manages to combine psy trance elements with clubbier trance. This gives him a credible crossover appeal by mixing both futuristic and forward thinking music with a lot of uplifting moments that grab the attention of many music lovers from all sides of trance.

Many of Astrix tracks were included in compilations that were released in Europe, Japan and South America. During 2006 Astrix performed in over 60 venues throughout the world and enjoyed massive airplay in Radio and TV stations. Astrix was named No. 41 in the Top 100 DJ list of DJ Mag for the year 2006.

NEW PRODUCTIONS

Summer Vacation - Film
"Summer Vacation" is the ironic title of this tragedy of an orthodox religous family. The film enters into the inner world of the believer faced with the silence of God.
The story unfolds during three days of preparations for a longed-for trip to the Dead Sea, during an intimate and poetic journey to the protagonist’s world and the wishes of his followers - the mother and son. The film’s plot is a variation on the story of the Binding of Isaac and chronicles events that lead to the inevitable. In a single moment of naked truth, the major friction between the mass of sensuality and pain and the mass of hope and faith, leads to an uncontrollable outbreak.
The film corresponds with Krzysztof Kieslowski’s first episode in the Dekalog series, "I am the Lord thy God." It allows us a rare glimpse of a specific orthodox religous Lithuanian culture. This culture has become more and more elitist and exclusive and has produced great leaders of the Jewish Orthodox community both in Israel and around the world.
David Wallach was born in Jerusalem in 1970 into the Haredic community and graduated from the Punjab Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. Wallach now lives in Tel Aviv. "Summer Vacation" is his feature debut.

Approximately 20 minutes of the sountrack was taken directly from the MMG Production Music Library

Director: David Wallach
Producer: Eyal Shirai (Golden Cinema Productions)
Cast: Assi Dayan, Sharon Hacohen Bar, Ilan Grif

Born to Dance
Tedy Productions started the second season of its dance contest to find the next, great dancing talent of Israel. The first episodes followed the auditions of selecting the 20 contestants.  The soundtrack of the episodes is based on MMG's PML music. As more and more people are looking for more material on the Internet, Tedy and Keshet TV have created two web sites for the show: One presents the dancers and clips from the show, and the second is called "the Studio", which presents original content, exclusively for the Net. The Studio offers dance lessens and interviews with the contestants and judges of the show. The clips in it include a lot of MMG's music.

The Eight
The third season of the children's hit series "The Eight" (Tedy productions and Noga Communication) started at the end of 2006. The series tells the story of 8 boys and girls who participate in a secret project to investigate the energy of the human mind. The soundtrack of the third season is based on MMG's PML music. There is a plan to create a collection of clips from the series to be broadcast via the mobile phone company, Pelephone.

Zoom Zoom
The children comedy series Zoom-Zoom has started a new season on Cable's Children Channel. The series is produced by Noga Communication and use MMG's library music for the soundtrack. For several years, Noga Communication has worked with MMG's library music for its promos, and in 2006 they signed a blanket agreement with MMG to use its PML music for their productions.
