It sounds like election time. |
|
|
From the parties' propaganda to the television coverage, from the election committee to the TV channel shows, in the Israeli election the votes went to MMG.
The elections for the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, came at a very dramatic time for the Israeli society. After the pull-out from Gaza, after Hamas won in the Palestinian election, a time with growing poverty and after the most lovable Prime Minister is struggling for his life – the Israeli people needed to decide who would lead the country in hard times.
The Power of a Vote
For the new voters, or any-other person who doesn't really understand how the Israeli election works, the government produced a short movie to explain all that. The movie was produced by JCS studio and it's combines a live narrator with 2D animation. The soundtrack of the movie includes music from our library.
The music of the election propaganda
From the right of the political map to the left, all major parties decided to use MMG's library music in their TV, radio and internet propaganda. Well, with the huge amount of dramatic heroic and emotive tracks – it was just logical that they used our library music.

Kadima
A few months before he had a stroke, Prime Minister Sharon left the Likud party, his political home for years, and formed a new, central map party called Kadima (meaning "Forward"). Ehud Olmert was the one who replaced him in the leadership of the party, and now he became the new Prim Minister.
Kadima's propaganda used a jingle which sounds like the Israeli anthem whenever they talked about Sharon's path or their plans. Drone and horror music was used when they talked about their rival from the right wing – Netenyahu, and a military tune (with a Soviet feel) was used when they attacked their left-wing rival – Peretz |

Avoda
The Avoda party (Labor party) chose a new leader, Amir Peretz, who brought a new agenda to the party, a much more social agenda. In their campaign they tried to present Peretz as a legitimate contester for the Prime Minister's job. To do so they presented several clips of Peretz talking to the camera about himself and his vision on several subjects. An emotive piano track was used for that. When they presented the bad economic situation, the terror issue and when they attacked the other parties, they used drone music and comic music. |

Likud
For almost 30 years the Likud party held the power of leadership. Then Sharon and his friends left the Likud and the Avoda party selected a new leader with a new agenda, and the earth shook under the Likud legs.
The Likud had two main messages in their propaganda: To present Netenyahu as a responsible leader who can deal with the terror (for that they used heroic music) and attacking Olmert and Kadima about their plans for another pull out from the territories. (For that they mostly used scary, tension and horror music) |

Israel Betenu
About 1/6 of the Israeli citizens, came to Israel from the Soviet Union countries. With so many Russian speakers it was small surprise that Israel Betenu (Israel is our home) become the 3rd size party in this election. Their propaganda focused on their leader, Liberman and his plans for education, violence, immigration and the problems with the Palestinians. A track from Music House was used in several radio adverts of the party. |

Meretz
Meretz, the Social-Democratic party from the left wing of the political map, produced an emotive and humorous campaign. They tried to approach young voters with a set of "sperm clips". Here you can see two guys (dressed as sperms) sitting at the airport, waiting to be born in Israel. One of them is scared because to be born as female or gay is to suffer discrimination. They also had an emotive clip that presented the different people standing at the Western Wall (The most holy place for Jewish people) and praying for a better life. By those clips Meretz presented things they would like to change |

Ichud Leumi Mafdal
The pull-out from Gaza brought to the surface the differences between the majority of Israelis and the nationalistic and the settlers. The two right wing parties, that presented the nationalistic views, decided to run together in these elections.
The opening clip of their campaign shows a guy in a horror corridor – whenever he looked hard things came – terror, destruction of settlements fear, fear, and fear. To make the annoying feel they used drone music with horror tunes. Another approach was a semi-soap opera they created. Each "episode" presented a problematic subject. Our music was used as the background music. |

MMG takes control over Digital Rights |
|
|
MMG has signed an agreement with "All About Rights" a monitoring and auditing company for digital system for digital transactions that covers all uses of MMG's properties over digital distribution systems. All uses of digital rights by users / distributors are now going to be negotiated and licensed directly by MMG.
Following the decision of the Anti-Trust Commissioner to limit the local society "ACUM" activity with regards to commercial negotiations with the mobile entertainment and internet, MMG has decided to take out the rights of ACUM for all the mechanical and synchronization rights for uses over the mobile platform, internet, interactive TV and digital radio.
"We as music publishers should make it a priority to collect their rightful share on behalf of their writers", said Aharon Gefen CEO of Media Men Group, "the limitation to negotiate a fair rate for our writers made us realize that we must take control over this important revenue stream and not to let third parties negotiate on our behalf".
MMG has announced that ACUM, the local collection society' would continue to collect performance rights on all digital uses. Mechanical rights will continue to be collected by ACUM who would function as a collecting company, subject to an agreement signed by the two parties.
Using the "All About Rights" system MMG will have "real time" information of all transactions made with its content. This information will be available to MMG on a day to day basis providing it with data regarding the use of the copyright and project income from the use.
The system also includes a "Secret Shopper" function which creates transactions at the content provider being monitored by the system to see if the on line reports generated by the system are accurate.
"This is a new age for our writers", says Aharon Gefen, "they will get a better cut from the use of their music and they will be paid accurately and on time". |

Soundtrack Of Series – Hamaarechet
In this educational-dramatic series, a group of six children produce each episode an article about historical events or figures. The soundtrack of the series is based on music from MMG's library.
Soundtrack of Series – Olam Mushlam – Wonderful World
Dramatic series for children. A group of children from different kinds of families, status and lifestyles meet in a village dormitory. The series follows their relationships with each other and their families, their success, the heart-breaks, first love and friendships.
Documentary
Two new documentary movies used music from our library as additions to the soundtracks.
The director of "The Souvenirs" starts a journey with his father to follow his father's memories from the time he was a young soldier in the "English Army Jewish Brigade". The director had a hidden agenda – he tried to find two European women who had relationships with his father and perhaps had a child with him.
The second movie is "News from Home / News from House" from the well known director, Amos Gitai. The film completes the trilogy which began in 1980 with "House" and continued in 1998 "A House in Jerusalem". Creating a sort of human archeology, Gitai explores the relationships between the house's inhabitants, past and present, between Israelis and Palestinians. |
