MMG is happy to announce our signing with the RAOUL BRETON Catalogue.

Raoul Breton was born in 1896 and died in 1959.  Early in his career he signed very talented artists like Charles Trenet, Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Becaud et Felix Leclerc and other great composers. In a few years he become one of the most popular French and international publishers.
Among the major talents:

Charles Aznavour:
Was born in 1924 in France from Armenian immigrants who had fled to France after the Turkish massacre,. Composer, lyricist and actor, he started writing songs for France's biggest female star, Edith Piaf.
In 1965 he became number 1 of the French singers, with hits like “La Mamma, Sa Jeunesse, La Boheme “. Then, he started an international career, sang with Liza Minelli and received lots of prizes.
In 1975, the whole world sung his songs: Bing Crosby, Shirley Bassey, Fred Astaire and Ray Charles, and then Placido Domingo.
In 1997, he received the “legion d’honneur” from Jaques Chirac, the French President.
He has composed more than 600 songs and sold more than 100 million records and is still a huge star.
“ He was never as self-consciously arty or avant-garde as some of his contemporaries (like Brel), and his music has always been an immensely appealing synthesis of jazzy, Sinatra-esque American pop and a kind of pan-European Gypsy music. The sheer range of his songs is impressive: His oeuvre encompasses jaunty novelty tunes, Gypsy pastiches, stately ballads, bittersweet songs of aging and nostalgia, piquant little narratives and character sketches.” Jody Rosen

Charles Trenet
He was born in Narbonne (in the South of France) on 1913 and died in 2001.
The "Fou chantant" ("The Singing Madman") as Trenet had been affectionately dubbed by the press,  will inevitably go down in music history as the man who wrote the unforgettable "La Mer", which has been translated into dozens of different languages and rocketed to the top of charts all around the world, has undoubtedly become one of the most famous French songs of all time - while its author has become a veritable living legend. He also wrote the huge hit “Y’a De La Joie “, and performed in the biggest music-halls of Paris. (Sources:RFI Music.com)
