Mariah Carey

Nelly

The Game

50 Cent

Ben Folds

Kelly Clarkson

Releases from Mariah Carey, Il Divo, The Game and many more have put BMG Music Publishing on top of the U.S. charts once again.

With cuts on three of the top 10 albums and three singles in this week's top 10 (w/e May 14, 2005), BMG Music Publishing continues its strong presence on the U.S. music charts. As a result of these hits and releases earlier this year from Mudvayne, Omarion, Faith Evans, Jimmy Buffett and Trace Adkins, the music publisher is on track to trounce its record-breaking success of 2004.

BMG Music Publishing's success comes from both of its U.S. divisions, BMG Songs North America and Zomba Music Publishing, as well as from songwriters and producers signed to Zomba Music Publishers U.K.

Spring marked the return of pop diva Mariah Carey to the album chart with the release of The Emancipation of Mimi (Island Def Jam). The album, which is currently number two on Billboard''s chart after a number one debut on April 30, features tracks from BMG Songs writers Manuel Seal, Chad Hugo (The Neptunes) and superstar Nelly. The album's current singles, "It's Like That" and the top 10 "We Belong Together," were both co-written and co-produced by Manuel Seal, who had another huge hit late last year with Alicia Keys/Usher's number one single "My Boo" (Arista/Jive). All three hits were co-written and co-produced with Seal's longtime partner Jermaine Dupri.

Other top 10 albums with BMG and Zomba-published cuts include 50 Cent's The Massacre (Interscope) at number six and Il Divo's self-titled debut (Columbia Records) at number nine. 50's album, featuring this week's number two single "Hate It Or Love It" co-written by Zomba Music Publishing's Cool & Dre production team, is the biggest release of 2005 to date, holding the number one spot for six weeks and selling four million units in just nine weeks. Il Divo's debut, which features tracks from BMG writers around the globe, debuted at number four on May 7 and was a huge number one hit in the U.K. late last year.

Also notable on the album chart this week is the number 13 debut for BMG Songs' singer/songwriter Ben Folds. With sales of 50,000 units its first week out of the gate, Folds' Songs for Silverman (Epic) marks the highest first week Billboard chart debut of his decade-long career.

BMG is just as powerful on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The company is number two for a sixth consecutive week with The Game feat. 50 Cent's "Hate It Or Love It" (Interscope). Zomba Music Publishing's Cool & Dre co-wrote and co-produced the song, which was released on The Game's The Documentary and 50 Cent's The Massacre (Interscope), both recent number one albums. The rising writer/producer team also have hits on the charts this week from Mary J. Blige and Fat Joe.

Other top 10 hits for BMG and Zomba include Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" (Island Def Jam) at number seven and Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" (RCA), which lands at number eight this week. Clarkson's hit was co-written by Martin Sandberg and produced by multiplatinum pop hitmaker Max Martin (Britney Spears, NSync). Both are signed to Zomba Music Publishing's U.K. division.

BMG Music Publishing looks forward to a long, hot summer on the music charts with upcoming releases from Coldplay, Backstreet Boys, The All-American Rejects, Yellowcard and Keyshia Cole.
