The hypnotic French electronic group Telepopmusik performed
twice at the Kamelot-Fusion Club in Israel on April
17th and 19th in collaboration with the French Embassy.
The band came for ten days to promote their new album
'Angel Milk'.
Telepopmusik attained international exposure thanks
to the hit single 'Breathe' taken from their first album
'Genetic World' released in 2001. The album, which sold
approx. 250,000 copies worldwide, received critical
acclaim following nominations at the French Grammies
- Les Victoires de la Musique - and the US Grammy Awards.
The band was awarded for "Breathe" at the
BMI European Awards in October 2004.
The band's composition "I am looking for love"
track listed on the current Janet Jackson's album 'Damita'.
Recently, the trio has been busy working on solo projects:
Fabrice Dumont wrote the original soundtrack for Catherine
Corsini’s La Repetition, Christophe Hetier, aka Antipop,
has appeared on several movie mixes and DJ sets, while
Stephan Haeri, AKA 2Square has recorded his first solo
album.
Despite this, nothing has come between the three artists
and their creative collective, as reflected in their
second daredevil album Angel Milk, which features singers
Angela McCluskey (signed to Blue Note/EMI with current
solo album "The Things We Do"), Mau (former
member of Earthling and Dirty Beatnicks) and Deborah
Anderson, who is known for her work with Mo Wax and
DJ Shadow.
Anderson's voice gives Angel Milk a post-pop feel that
allows listeners to slip smoothly into the world of
this multi-instrumentalist trio. It is difficult not
to be seduced by the shimmering harmonies of the first
track, "Don't Look Back", a wonderful ballad
by McCluskey, or not to get entangled in the web of
"Stop Running Away" (Track 2) with Deborah
Anderson. The third track, "Anyway", featuring
Mau, is a perfect post-clubbing pop track, while "Into
Everything" is mesmerizing. Elsewhere on the album,
other atmospheric influences come to the surface (Gershwin,
Yma Sumac) without jeopardizing the originality of the
music.
Angel Milk (Catalogue-Capitol/EMI) was released in
Japan on February 12th and in France, Belgium and Switzerland
on February 22nd. It will be available in other European
territories and the USA at the end of May 2005.
