New Woody Allen Film Feels the Moonglow

The highly anticipated new Woody Allen film "Melinda and Melinda" features a Bug standard. Over the end credits is the classic song "Moonglow," co-written by Bug music client Eddie De Lange.
"Melinda and Melinda" opens on March 25th and stars Radha Mitchell, Will Ferrell, Chloe Sevigny and Amanda Peet.

The Plot:
"MELINDA AND MELINDA" combines romantic comedy and drama in a way that Woody Allen, unique among filmmakers, likes to contrast. It takes place in Manhattan and chronicles a pair of crises that give great rein to the funny and serious talents of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Will Ferrell, Jonny Lee Miller, Radha Mitchell, Amanda Peet, Chlo? Sevigny and Wallace Shawn. All the usual Allen areas are explained-the fragility of love, marital infidelity, sophisticated romance, the inability to communicate. As a character in the movie puts it, "He's despondent, he's desperate, he's suicidal. All the comic elements are in place".

The Fox Searchlight Pictures Presentation "MELINDA AND MELINDA" is written and directed by Woody Allen and produced by Letty Aronson. The Executive Producer is Stephen Tenenbaum. The Co-executive producers are Jack Rollins and Charles H. Joffe. The Co-producer is Helen Robin. The creative team includes Director of Photography Vilmos Zsigmond, A.S.C., Production Designer Santo Loquasto, Editor Alisa Lepselter and Costume Designer Judy Ruskin Howell. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Will Ferrell, Jonny Lee Miller, Radha Mitchell, Amanda Peet, Chlo? Sevigny, and Wallace Shawn.

The Ballad of Jack and Rose

"The Ballad of Jack and Rose" was the top indie film the weekend it opened, despite the fact that it played in only four theatres. The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis and was directed by his wife, Rebecca Miller.

The Plot:
Jack (Daniel Day-Lewis) lives on the site of his abandoned island commune with his 16-year-old daughter Rose (Camilla Belle). Since the breakup of the commune, Jack has sheltered Rose completely from the influences of the outside world, but now his fatal illness and Rose's emerging womanhood pose troubling questions about the days ahead.
A man who has lived a life motivated by environmentalism, Jack now rages at those who do not share his aesthetic, like developer Marty Rance (Beau Bridges), who is building a housing tract on the edge of his property.
When Jack invites his girlfriend Kathleen (Catherine Keener) and her sons Rodney (Ryan McDonald) and Thaddius (Paul Dano) to live with them, Rose feels betrayed and the situation quickly becomes precarious. Rose acts out wildly, creating chaos.
As everything flies out of control, Jack finds himself trapped in an impossible place and is forced to take action.

Award-winning filmmaker Rebecca Miller ("Personal Velocity") has created a powerful and poetic third feature about a man who has cut himself off from the world that refuses to live up to his ideals, and a young girl's sensual coming-of-age.

The film features two songs by Bug-Music's own Leo Kottke, "Busted Bicycle" and "Coolidge Rising."
